eCADSTAR IBIS-AMI
Traditional IBIS models describe buffer driving and receiving characteristics but cannot model advanced features to compensate for interconnect loss like pre-emphasis and equalization techniques which are common in modern Serializer/Deserializer (SERDES) channels like PCI Express.
IBIS-AMI models include the capability to model this behavior, so you can adjust various parameters to optimize I/O channels for maximum performance.
As with other kinds of simulation, IBIS-AMI models become even more valuable when you push density and speed envelopes and ultra-high-speed SERDES circuits are closely packed with other parts of your designs.
TOP BENEFITS. WHY DO YOU NEED AMI SIMULATION?
- IBIS-AMI models are needed to simulate advanced transceivers like those in PCI Express (PCIe). These transceivers use dedicated Digital Signal Processing (DSP) like techniques to condition signals for ultra-high bitrates.
- Higher-level verification with long stimulus patterns is essential to find key channel performance parameters like Bit Error Rate (BER) which is defined by the underlying protocol.
- IBIS-AMI models can be adjusted by various parameters to optimize I/O behaviour for maximum performance.
